Painting is my pastime as well as my meditation. For most of my life I told myself I could not paint. Then when I was 62, I picked up a brush and I have never stopped. When I am working, I frequently fall into a blissful state of “flow”, during which anxieties and inhibitions temporarily dissipate, and many hours can pass without my noticing it. I often put on classical or opera music, and my fingers and paintbrush literally dance around the canvas. My goal looking forward is to find more freedom to paint exactly what I want, and to care less and less what I think others want to see!
