Susan’s work tells disparate stories of our new and colliding reality, a symbol of our fraying times. She believes our similarities outweigh our differences and hopes to bring together a visual unity. Much of her work involves a physical engagement and layered, textured materials: acrylic paint, oil sticks, venetian polished and metallic plaster, modelling paste, metallic leaf, mica, woven elements, charcoal, thread. cold waxes, stencils, trowels, rope, brushes, canvas, paper.
Susan Siefer is a painter and textile-inspired artist working out of her studio in Waltham, MA. She started her art career as a sculptural weaver in Detroit Michigan. She currently incorporates weaving into her painting and 3 dimensional work. Her work has been shown in the Boston and New England area including Galatea Gallery, Fountain Street Gallery, Cambridge Art Association, Hess Gallery and in private collections. Susan currently has an installation curated by DeCordova Museum at 210 Broadway, Cambridge Ma. Her work reflects her many trips to Morocco, included a residency at Green Olive Arts in Tetouan during the summer of 2019. Susan is a Board Member of NAWA (National Association of Women Artists as well as other art associations.
