AgX is an artist-run film lab and all-volunteer collective of 40+ Boston-area artists working across film, video, photography, sound, and other forms, with a shared interest in experimentation and the unique creative possibilities of photochemical film.

Part of a global movement and network of artist-run film labs operating at the margins of the film industry and the art world, AgX is currently one of only two collectively-run film labs operating within the United States. With an open membership and a non-hierarchical, democratic structure, we share resources, equipment, camaraderie and knowledge to nurture a culture of DIY resourcefulness and collaboration.

Sliding-scale member dues support our shared creative workspace, darkroom, and screening room in Waltham, MA where we host public screenings and work-in-progress gatherings, public workshops and skillshares, and other events throughout the year, engaging with local audiences and visiting artists alike.

AgX turns 10 years old in 2025! If you believe in supporting artist-run spaces and collectives, and if you want to join us in contributing to a broader DIY and collaborative arts ecosystem led by and for artists, please support our mission by making a one-time or recurring donation here: https://donate.agxfilm.org/
