Working in the language of abstraction, minimalism, and architectural geometry, my work communicates a meaning that is sensed before it is articulated, allowing the viewer to bring their own associations and curiosity. This interaction creates a bridge for new conversations and unexpected connections that then become a part of the work itself.

Layering forms over solid, painted fields of color, I play with the tensions between positive and negative, nearness and distance, and light and shadow. With each of these tension points relying on the other to exist, these interactions become visual metaphors for the deep personal relationships we have with each other, our surroundings, and within ourselves.

Informed by my experience in craft, music, design, and fashion, I use a combination of repetitive pleating, gestural cutting, and hand-shaping to transform paper into structured, yet delicate forms with rhythmic movement and weightless volume. The high degree of focus and care required to evoke effortlessness in these structural paintings mirrors that of human relationships – the more intention you put into them, the more effortless they feel.
