Lisa Boemer is a visual artist whose work explores attention, movement, and discovery through painting, drawing, and material exploration. Working with oil, acrylic, ink, and reclaimed materials, she is interested in how observation and experimentation can reveal unexpected connections.

Her practice moves between plein air painting, abstraction, intuitive mark-making, and works created on reclaimed NOAA nautical charts. Whether working from direct observation or allowing forms to emerge through gesture and process, Lisa approaches each piece with curiosity, inviting the materials to become collaborators in the creative process.

Recent explorations include paintings created through unconventional drawing tools, layered surfaces, and handmade elements that encourage viewers to slow down, look closely, and discover details that unfold over time. Her work is inspired by the belief that artistic inquiry shares much in common with scientific observation—that careful attention can lead to new ways of seeing the world.

Lisa's paintings have been exhibited at the Fitchburg Art Museum, the Copley Society of Art, the WAH Center in Brooklyn, and other regional exhibitions. She has participated in artist residencies at the New York Academy of Art, Horned Dorset Colony, Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill, and most recently the MADE Artist Residency in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

As both a working artist and teaching artist, Lisa enjoys creating opportunities for others to explore materials, embrace curiosity, and experience the joy of discovery. She welcomes visitors to her Lincoln Studios workspace during Waltham Open Studios and invites them to Draw In. Look Closely. Discover More.
