I am a maker. I transport the ancient lineage of handiwork into contemporary works of art, influenced by the tradition of women’s work. I weave, sew, paint, embellish and fabricate.
I work with materials that reflect my life experiences as a sculptural weaver, as a residential and corporate decorative painter and gold leaf restorer and the influence of my several trips to Morocco. Some of the materials I use are polished plasters, mica, sand, metallic leaf, lots of rhinestones, inherited fabrics, weaving, pigments, netting, found objects.
The feminine portal forms serve as a conduit to peel back and reflect on your own stories and our shared experiences. My work serves as a testament to the power of storytelling as we travel from one place to another for safety, adventure, and a sense of belonging where we find our connective communities. In this challenging time, I hope to bring some joy.
