“I create abstract paintings that distill feelings, memories, and places into marks on a surface. I value spontaneity and curiosity over preconceived ideas. I begin with raw canvas or soft washes of color before applying dyed cloth and found materials with staples or thumbtacks. I let myself move these pieces freely until I find a rhythm within the colors and shapes. By embracing the changeability of these materials, I keep a sense of play and remain open to discovery. The entire process is about stripping away, exposing myself, and withstanding the vulnerability that comes with honest self-expression. My goal is to keep a sensitivity to the physical world - an actual tuning into the senses - in order to process emotion and form deeper connections."
