Kelley Harwood, Building 4, Floor 1/Studio 5.
Kelley Harwood has been a beloved participant in Waltham Open Studios since 2009. If you are a longtime WOS fan, you may have noticed how her creativity has evolved and expanded. During the pandemic, her drawing and painting practices were put on hiatus and she began working in cyanotype (photographic blueprint) and animation. Her current work combines found objects, cyanotype, drawing, animation, and painting. "The Prussian blue of her piece "Over Time", a book of 60 cyanotypes, combines something both wistful and slightly uncanny with its repeated imagery of 19th c. millworkers. When asked what inspires her, she says, “The mill buildings continue to inspire me after many years. I love discovering and working alongside the remnants - of past and present - of fellow makers and workers,” and explains that a community of artists “understands and supports unapologetically” the unique needs of fellow creatives.
